Using ultrasound for guidance, a specialized IV catheter is placed into the targeted vein by a trained vein doctor. Through this IV catheter a small laser fiber is positioned into the portion of the vein that’s being treated. Next a series of tumescence (fluid that is composed of lidocaine and saline) injections is performed to insulate and anesthetize the vein and surrounding tissues. The laser fiber is then activated and slowly retracted through the vein, damaging the lining. The procedure takes 30-45 minutes with minimal down time after the procedure.

VENASEAL™ CLOSURE SYSTEM
The VenaSeal™ closure system is the only approved device with a specially formulated medical adhesive that closes diseased or varicose veins. Traditional vein closure methods such as EVLT (laser) use intense heat requiring multiple anesthetic injections. The VenaSeal™ closure system requires only one anesthetic injection site and creates less discomfort during the procedure, decreased soreness post-procedure and minimizes bruising.
Using ultrasound for guidance, a specialized IV catheter is placed into the targeted vein by a trained vein doctor. The VenaSeal™ closure system’s dispensing gun is then attached to the catheter that has been advanced into the diseased vein. The catheter is placed in specific areas along the diseased vein and the doctor conducts a series of trigger pulls to deliver the medical adhesive while compressing the vein. The procedure takes 30-45 minutes with little to no down time after the procedure.Next: More About Venaseal Closure
